We've got some renovating and refreshing to do to make the farmstead ready for semi-off-the-grid living including the "big house," cottage, barn, chapel, and granary/rustic cabin.
Our 3 story main house was built in the 1970's, incorporating the original homestead cabin into the 2nd and 3rd floors. We'll be renovating the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms, and adding a 3rd floor interior deck. We are excited to update the space and make it a comfortable and inviting home for family and friends to enjoy.
The Coop features a fully-equipped kitchen, living area, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and laundry facilities. A separate workshop and stained glass studio occupies the opposite side of the cottage building.
Joyce and Jerry built on the chapel building when a local church (Sand Hill Lutheran) closed. The pews, altar, and other furnishings from the original church were installed in the new chapel. It offers space for about 30 people to gather. The chapel is attached to a primitive cabin that had originally been a granary. The cabin offers a peaceful and inviting atmosphere with a simple kitchen and serving area.
The Old Red Barn is an iconic landmark in the area and is structurally sound despite its age. Built in the early 1900s, this two-story barn has a gambrel roof with a large hayloft. The barn is in need of restoration, and will be returned to its original grandeur beginning with the roof replacement and followed by updating electrical and flooring. This 120 year old barn will once again be a functioning part of our farm operations.
