We are Chris and Dale and we are living our dream of "un-retiring" to our northern Minnesota family homestead farm, first established by Chris' great-grandparents in 1883. We've got lots of plans for our 80 acre adventure! We're excited about offering opportunities for creating music, making stained glass, and hosting events in our chapel. We'll also be raising goats, chickens, and several barn cats! Chris' mom (Joyce) will keep busy in her flower and veggie gardens and her stained glass studio. We'll be documenting our adventures as we combine our love of this farm, making music, and spending time together with family and friends!
Similar to the farm, our website is still under construction...
Please be patient, we're working on it!
With the Big House, the Coop, the Shop, the Barn, the Chapel, and the Granary, and lots of trees and lawns, we've got room to dream! Follow along as we renovate and refresh the place we call home!
The farm has always been a place of music! We're creating a music studio at the farm to host artists who want to escape to a rustic rural setting to relax, compose and/or record music.
Chris is an accomplished composer and singer. Download a pdf of her music, or purchase her new book, Still Shining, a collection of songs for solo, choir and instrumentals. Let us know if you have a recording of her music that we can upload on our website!
Joyce is an expert stained glass artist who is able to create small and large pieces and excels in teaching others how to enjoy the art of glass work.
Over the years, the farm has welcomed a variety of residents, including goats, llamas, alpacas, pigs, turkeys, horses, dogs, and cats. Recently, six seasoned hens have settled into the freshly refurbished Chicken Coop, adding a charming touch to the barnyard.
Of course, no farm is complete without loyal cats and dogs. Four hardworking farm cats keep the barnyard in order, while Oscar, our vigilant dog, stands guard against pesky squirrels, ensuring all are safe and sound.
Beyond the barnyard, the surrounding woods reveal traces of northern Minnesota's abundant wildlife, making it a paradise for nature lovers and a true reflection of farm life intertwined with nature’s beauty.
Our plans to manage our 30 acres of forest land involve harvesting firewood for heat, as well as clearing out brush to improve forest management. These activities help to promote biodiversity, improve habitat for wildlife, and ensure that the land remains healthy and vibrant.
